Getting Started with GeoMine: A Beginner's Guide

Never used a rewards app before? No problem. GeoMine is designed to be the easiest way to earn real rewards. This guide assumes zero knowledge.

What Is GeoMine?

GeoMine is a rewards platform that lets you earn GM Points by visiting real businesses. You earn GM Points automatically while shopping, dining, or exploring — then redeem them for Visa virtual gift cards at a fixed rate of 1,000 GM Points = $1 USD.

Step 1: Download the App

Get GeoMine from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). Search "GeoMine" — it's the one with the gold pickaxe logo.

Step 2: Create Your Account

Tap "Sign Up" and enter your email and a password. That's it. No credit card required. A wallet is automatically created for you.

Note: To redeem your first Visa gift card, your account needs to be at least 7 days old. Plenty of time to start mining and stack up GM Points.

Step 3: Allow Location Access

The app will ask to use your location "While Using the App." Say yes — this is how GeoMine verifies you're actually at a business. We only access location during mining (never in the background).

Step 4: Find a Business

Open the Map tab. You'll see markers for participating businesses. Each marker shows the business name, category, and tier (Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Enterprise). Higher tiers mean a higher daily GM Points cap at that location.

Step 5: Walk In and Mine

When you're physically inside a business's 25m geofence, tap the marker and then "Start Mining." You'll see a timer and a GM Points counter ticking up at the base rate of 0.05 GM/min, plus any active multipliers.

Step 6: Build a Streak

Mine at least once per day to build your streak. Milestone bonuses at Day 3, 7, 14, 30, 100 — and then +5,000 GM every additional 100 days (the Centurion bonus) — reward consistency more than any single big session.

Step 7: Redeem When You're Ready

Once you have 5,000 GM Points and your account is at least 7 days old, head to the Wallet tab and redeem for a $5 Visa virtual gift card. Bigger denominations available at $10, $25, and $50.
